                                 What is Sgraffito?

Sgraffito is a Technic that is used by artist to create designs with texture on the surface of there artwork, Most artist use this technic on painting like in canvases or also on ceramics artwork (pottery).

Any object that will scratch a line into paint can be used for sgraffito. The wrong end of a brush is perfect. Other possibilities include a fingernail, piece of card, sharp point of a painting knife, a comb, spoon, fork, and a hardened paintbrush, I like this technic because it  is easy and quick to do and for people who can't make little detail  then you don't have to worry.

                          So what is Mishima?

Mishima pottery comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This surface design technique is a way of drawing by inlaying a slip of contrasting color into lines in leather hard clay.

To create these technic, a potter would begin by engraving the design in the body. Next, the engravings would be filled with contrasting colored clay (or slip). Finally, the bowl is then covered it with a transparent glaze.

This my idea for my project, I will be creating a pot with a sunflower on it the pedals of the sunflower will be covering all of the out part of my clay project. The sketch below is similar to how I want it.

He was a interesting man, he was known as the mad potter of Biloxi as you can see in the picture you can see were he got  his name from I guess because of the faces he makes in the picture and also his hair, his is from Biloxi Mississippi.Image result for george e ohrI personally like  this ceramic art work because of the handles how he twisted them he probably had to wait for the handles to dry a little at the stage of leather hard which means its partially dry and has about 15% moisture
.Image result for george e ohrI also like this one I would like to know how he made the indention but overall I like the design and the color.
